Third Arrest Made After Chaos at Epping Protest
A third person has been arrested following violent clashes and criminal damage at what started as a peaceful protest in Epping on Thursday, 17 July 2025. The trouble kicked off outside The Bell Hotel on the High Road, where local residents gathered to voice their concerns.
Violence Erupts Outside The Bell Hotel
The peaceful protest quickly spiralled out of control when a separate group disrupted the event, sparking clashes and causing damage. Essex Police have confirmed that the latest suspect is currently being questioned as part of the ongoing investigation.
Two Others Already in Custody
Two previous arrests were made following the disorder. At least one resident of The Bell Hotel has been charged, arrested, and remanded in relation to the incidents.
Police Clamp Down on Disorder
“We will not tolerate criminal behaviour,” said an Essex Police spokesperson. Officers from Essex Police, the Metropolitan Police, and other units worked together to keep the peace and remain impartial throughout the unrest.
Police Seek Witnesses and Evidence
Essex Police have launched a dedicated Public Portal to collect video footage and witness statements. They urge anyone with information to come forward.
