Knife Crime Horror: Teen Killed in London Street Fight
Three Men Jailed After Fatal Stabbing
Three men were convicted following a stabbing that claimed the life of 15-year-old Kayjon on December 11 last year. Raymond McGill, 18, of Manwood Street, Azhar Miah, 28, of Silverland Street, and Gift Osondu, 18, of Constance Street, were all found guilty after a trial at the Old Bailey earlier this year.
McGill and Miah were also convicted for carrying knives in public, while Osondu admitted to the same charge. However, McGill and Osondu were cleared of murder and manslaughter.
Sentences Handed Down
- Raymond McGill: 2 years imprisonment
- Gift Osondu: 2 years imprisonment
- Azhar Miah: 17 months imprisonment
Tragic Night in North Woolwich
Police were called at around 6:50pm on December 11, 2020, to a shop on Woodman Street, North Woolwich. They found Kayjon badly wounded. Despite emergency services’ best efforts, the teenager was declared dead at the scene. A post-mortem confirmed a single stab wound to the chest as the cause of death.
Detectives learned that Kayjon and Miah got into a violent altercation with McGill and Osondu – all reportedly armed with knives.
Police Speak Out on Knife Crime
“The Met will do all it can to bring to justice those who carry knives in public and contribute to the violence on the streets of London,” said Detective Sergeant Gary Harreman.
“A 15-year-old died as the result of a single stab wound, demonstrating the deadly consequences of carrying and using a knife. My thoughts go out to his family and friends, who have lost someone who had his whole life ahead of him.”
This brutal stabbing marks another grim reminder of London’s ongoing battle with knife crime.
