Two Arrested in Major Cocaine and Heroin Sting

On May 3, police executed simultaneous raids in Aldworth Close, Reading, and Somerville Road, Swindon. The Fortitude teams, backed by Neighbourhood Policing Teams, swooped on the addresses following a tip-off about drug supply between the two towns.

Suspects Nabbed and Charged

  • Katie Longmate, 37, from Aldworth Close, and Chakir Smith, 28, of Beaumont Road, were arrested.
  • Both face charges of being involved in the supply of cocaine and heroin.

Court Drama Unfolds

Longmate pleaded guilty at Swindon Magistrates’ Court on May 4 and is now in custody. She awaits sentencing on June 1 at Swindon Crown Court.

Smith denies the charges. He has been released on bail but must appear alongside Longmate on June 1.
