Predatory Paedophile Jailed for Five Years After Horrific Online Abuse of Teen
James Jeffrey, 45, from West Molesey, was locked up for five years yesterday at Kingston Crown Court. The vile arrest followed a Surrey Police investigation into child abuse images shared online.
Shocking Online Abuse Busted by Surrey Police
Back in 2018, Surrey Police’s Paedophile Online Investigation Team caught wind of an email address used to share indecent videos of children in an online chat group. That email was traced straight to Jeffrey, who was arrested at work while officers swooped on his home, seizing three mobile phones.
Jeffrey’s Attempt to Block Justice Failed
Jeffrey refused to hand over phone PINs, trying to stall police. But forensic experts cracked the codes, uncovering explicit WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger chats with a 14-year-old girl. The vile exchanges revealed Jeffrey’s sickening communications and coercion of the underage victim.
Guilty Verdict and Harsh Sentence
In March 2021, after a tense trial, Jeffrey was convicted of sexual communication with a child, causing a child to watch sexual acts, and causing a child to engage in sexual activity. He had earlier admitted to possessing extreme pornographic images. The court also slapped him with an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
“The victim has shown incredible bravery and determination in helping us with our investigation,” said Detective Sergeant James Tibbs. “Jeffrey is clearly a predatory and manipulative paedophile. Seeing him sentenced is extremely satisfying.”
DS Tibbs added: “Surrey Police will always pursue every lead to bring offenders like Jeffrey to justice. Providing fake PINs only delays the inevitable.”
Justice may be served, but this chilling case is a stark reminder of the dangers lurking online.
