Man in his 50s dies following serious attack in Westbourne Court

Swindon was rocked by tragedy early yesterday morning when emergency services were called to Westbourne Court at around 1am following reports of a serious assault. Officers arrived to find a man in his 50s had died at the scene from his injuries.

Grant Walker, 32, charged with murder and assault on emergency worker

Grant Walker, 32, from Faringdon Road, has been charged with murder after a swift investigation by the police Major Crime Investigation Team working alongside local officers. He also faces charges of assaulting an emergency worker during the incident.

Custody and court appearance scheduled

Walker remains in custody and is due to appear at Swindon Magistrates’ Court tomorrow morning (27/02) to answer the charges.

Detective offers condolences as investigation continues

Detective Inspector Hatch extended his sympathies to the victim’s family, saying: “Our thoughts are with the bereaved family during this difficult time. Their cooperation has been invaluable and they continue to receive support from specially trained officers.”
