Wiltshire Police have launched an urgent appeal following a brazen burglary at a local food outlet on Cricklade Road, Swindon. The incident occurred at around 4.30am on April 15, when a thief made off with a cash till containing £3,000.

The suspect was captured on CCTV fleeing the scene wearing a distinctive torn coat. Police hope this detail will help lead to a swift arrest.

Officers are asking residents in Beatrice Street, Whiteman Street, Florence Street, and surrounding areas to review any doorbell or CCTV footage from the early hours of April 15. They want to hear from anyone who noticed suspicious behaviour or recorded the suspect on camera.

A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said, “We are particularly keen to trace anyone who saw strange activity or caught the individual on footage, especially given the distinctive torn coat.” Images of the damaged coat are being widely circulated to jog memories and generate new leads.

Wiltshire Police urge anyone with information, no matter how small, to come forward. You can call Wiltshire Police on 101, quoting reference 54250045925, or report anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Every clue is important in tracking down the culprit behind this audacious theft.

The burglary has unsettled the local community, with many Swindon residents expressing concerns about a possible increase in burglaries. Locals are encouraging everyone to double-check their security systems and remain vigilant.
