IOPC Launches Investigation Amid Pressure on Police Force

The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) has opened an inquiry into the Metropolitan Police’s handling of the incident. The patient remains in critical but stable condition.

“An independent investigation into the actions of Metropolitan Police Service officers during an incident where a man was restrained at a hospital in north London on Monday 3 April is underway,” the IOPC stated.

“From what we understand, the man is still in critical but stable condition in the hospital.”

This investigation comes as the Metropolitan Police face intense scrutiny. A recent review slammed the force for institutional racism, sexism, and homophobia, while efforts ramp up to refocus officers from handling serious crimes towards improving internal standards and conduct.
