Kent Roads Policing are responding to a serious crash that has shut the A2 at Wilmington, Dartford in both directions. The closure is causing major disruption during the early hours of Saturday morning.
The incident occurred just after 3am on 12th November 2022 when officers and paramedics arrived at the scene. Multiple vehicles are stranded on the coastbound carriageway, while police and ambulance crews are blocking the London-bound side. All lanes remain closed as investigations continue.
A National Highways spokesman confirmed: “The A2 in Kent is closed both ways between the M25/A282 and A2018 near Dartford due to a Kent Police-led incident. Closures will stay in place for police work. National Highways Traffic Officers are assisting on site.”
Drivers are advised that the closure could last for several hours. To avoid delays, motorists should follow the diversion routes provided. Westbound traffic from M25 Junction 2 should take the A225 (Princes Road) and then rejoin the A2 at Dartford Heath. Eastbound drivers should follow the westbound diversion in reverse.
Kent Police have been contacted for further information. Motorists are urged to plan their journeys accordingly and stay tuned for updates.
