Boy, 10, Bitten by Two Dogs in Polegate Park Attack

Sussex Police are hunting the owner after a 10-year-old boy was bitten by two small dogs while walking with his mother in Abbot’s Wood, Polegate. The shocking attack happened around 2:40pm on Monday, 26 May 2025.

Dog Attack Leaves Boy with Leg Wounds

The two dogs—thought to be Jack Russells or Patterdale Terriers—lunged at the child, biting his legs. He was rushed to hospital for treatment but has since been discharged and is recovering at home.

Police Search for Woman Who Fled Scene

Officers want to speak to the dogs’ owner, who fled without giving her details. She’s described as:

  • Blonde hair tied in a ponytail
  • Wearing a light-coloured top and black leggings
  • One dog reportedly named “Molly”

Police Plea for Witnesses and Footage

Inspector Anthony Oakensen said: “We know this was traumatic for the child and his mum. Thankfully, the boy is now recovering at home. We’re following several leads and urge anyone who saw what happened or has CCTV or dashcam footage to come forward. We also encourage the woman involved to cooperate with our enquiries.”
