Police are investigating a brutal robbery that took place in Southsea, where a 31-year-old man was beaten and robbed in broad daylight. The attack occurred in the early hours of Monday, December 19.
The victim was followed along Albert Road between 3am and 3:20am before being assaulted at the junction with 1 Road. During the attack, the man was punched viciously, resulting in severe bruising around his eyes.
The assailants then stole the victim’s Nokia mobile phone and white baseball cap before fleeing the scene.
Police have provided detailed descriptions of the three suspects involved:
- Man One: Black, mid-40s, approximately 5ft 5ins tall, chubby build, shoulder-length black dreadlocks, wearing a thick blue coat with white stripes on the sleeves.
- Man Two: White, late 40s, around 6ft tall, medium build, short hair, wearing a grey jumper.
- Man Three: White, mid-40s, about 5ft 6ins tall, medium build, short hair, wearing a blue jumper.
Detective Constable Charlies Cox appealed for witnesses, stating: “Although this happened in the early hours, there were still plenty of people and traffic on Albert Road. I urge anyone who saw the attack or has found the victim’s white baseball cap or Nokia phone to come forward.”
