Wiltshire Police are investigating a disturbing sexual assault that took place in Calne on Saturday, January 18, 2025. The incident began when a man was seen trying car door handles in the area before committing the assault.
Between approximately 7:45pm and 8:00pm, a man was observed fiddling with car door handles on Curzon Street near Springfield Drive. Following this, he stood in the middle of the road, attracting the attention of a nearby woman.
Concerned by his unusual behaviour, the woman approached the man. Instead of responding normally, he shocked her by repeatedly kissing her hand and forehead.
Wiltshire Police have described the suspect as a white male in his early 20s, about 5ft 7ins tall, with short dark hair and some stubble. He was wearing a full camouflage tracksuit at the time of the incident.
Authorities are appealing for anyone who witnessed the event or who may have dashcam footage from the area during the time to come forward. Anyone with information is asked to contact Wiltshire Police on 101, quoting reference number 54250007031. Reports can also be made online or anonymously through Crimestoppers.
A police spokesperson said, “We are committed to investigating this assault thoroughly and bringing justice.”
