Teen Girl Assaulted Near Oakwood Pond – Police Hunt Suspect

A teenage girl was reportedly attacked near Oakwood Pond, close to Fourth Avenue and Fold Croft, just before 4.20pm on Wednesday 15 June.

Suspect on the Run

The suspect is described as a skinny Black man in his early twenties, about 5ft 10ins tall. He was seen wearing a dark baseball cap, dark shorts, with black afro hair and facial hair.

Police believe he fled towards Canons Brook after the assault.

Heavy Police Presence in Harlow

Detective Inspector Daniela Hogan confirmed officers are staying in the Oakwood Pond area overnight and into tomorrow, with an increased police presence to catch the attacker.

“My officers remain in the Oakwood Pond area this evening, and you can expect to see an increased police presence in the area overnight and into tomorrow morning,” said DI Hogan.

Community Urged to Help

The attack happened in a busy part of Harlow near a cycle track and main road. Police urge anyone who saw a distressed teenage girl or a man matching the suspect’s description to come forward immediately.

“We understand this will worry the Harlow community. A specialist detective team is working through the night to push this fast-moving investigation forward,” DI Hogan added.
