Two cars collided head-on on Gamston’s Lings Bar Road at around 6.30pm on Saturday, February 18, causing a serious accident that left one driver critically injured.
The occupants of a Land Rover involved in the crash escaped with minor injuries and were taken to hospital for precautionary checks. However, the driver of a Ford Fiesta, a 28-year-old man, sustained potentially life-changing injuries and was rushed to hospital.
Following the incident, the 28-year-old driver has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and driving while unfit through alcohol or drugs.
Nottinghamshire Police’s Roads Policing Unit is urgently appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash or has dash-cam footage to come forward. PC Phil Broughton said, “This was an incredibly dangerous incident that thankfully didn’t result in anyone losing their life. We want to get to the bottom of what happened. If you have any information – no matter how small – please contact us.”
He added, “Dash-cam or CCTV footage from around 6.30pm last Saturday on Lings Bar Road would be a huge help.”
