Wiltshire Police have arrested a man after a brutal assault took place at Swindon bus station late on the night of 18 July. The victim, a man in his 40s, suffered serious head injuries after being repeatedly struck with an unknown object.
The violent attack occurred at approximately 11:50 PM. Emergency services responded quickly following reports of violence at the busy bus station. The injured man was taken to hospital and has since been discharged.
A man, also in his 40s, was arrested at the scene and is currently in police custody on suspicion of section 18 grievous bodily harm. Police have cordoned off parts of the bus station and nearby Western Street in Old Town as they continue to gather evidence.
Wiltshire Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the attack or has information to come forward. Witnesses are urged to contact the police on 101, quoting log 392 of 18 July.
