Police were called to Avery Hill Road, SE9, just after midnight following a disturbing report of a man being sprayed with an unknown substance and then attacked. The incident occurred at 12:13am, leaving the victim with head injuries.

During the investigation, officers found that three other people had also been sprayed with the same substance. Tests later confirmed that the substance was non-toxic, and fortunately, none of the victims sustained life-threatening injuries.

Emergency responders, including the London Ambulance Service, attended the scene to treat the injured. The main victim was subsequently taken to hospital for further care.

The Metropolitan Police have launched an urgent hunt for the attackers. No arrests have been made so far. A crime scene has been established, and forensic teams are carrying out investigations to gather evidence.

Authorities are appealing to anyone with information about the incident to come forward immediately. When contacting the police, please reference CAD45/10DEC24 and call 101.

The attack has caused concern among residents and businesses in Avery Hill and the wider Greenwich area. Police are urging the community to remain vigilant as the investigation continues. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
