Masked raiders struck a quiet street in Stubbington late on Thursday, June 6, making off with thousands of pounds worth of high-end tree-cutting equipment.
At around 11.30pm, residents of Tangyes Close heard suspicious noises outside their home. When they attempted to check the front door, a masked thug armed with a crowbar forced the door shut, trapping them inside.
While one offender blocked the door, accomplices entered the garage and stole professional-grade STIHL power tools valued at approximately £4,500. The stolen items included two STIHL long reach hedge trimmers, one STIHL short reach hedge trimmer, one STIHL backpack blower, and one STIHL brush trimmer.
The gang fled the scene heading towards Meoncross School. Police believe the raid was carefully planned to target valuable equipment.
A female resident in her 60s suffered a panic attack during the incident and required ambulance treatment.
Detective Constable Jamie Fagan said, “This was a traumatic ordeal for the victims and I am appealing for anyone with information to come forward to help us find those responsible.”
