Police have launched a murder investigation after a woman was found dead at a house in Kingswood on Monday, November 20th.
Officers rushed to a property on Wedmore Close at around 3.50pm following reports of a serious assault.
Officers discovered the woman with severe injuries and immediately began CPR while paramedics were called. Sadly, despite desperate efforts, she was pronounced dead at approximately 4.30pm.
A forensic post-mortem is set for today to determine the exact cause of death.
A 43-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder. He is currently undergoing health assessments before police interview.
The victim’s next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist family liaison officers.
“Our thoughts are with the victim’s family and the children who were present during this distressing incident,” said Chief Inspector Dan Forster of Neighbourhood Policing. “The Major Crime Investigation Team is conducting a thorough investigation. This appears to be an isolated incident involving people known to each other.”
A police cordon remains in place at the property for at least a couple of days as forensic experts comb the scene.
Local officers will increase patrols to reassure Kingswood residents.
The Professional Standards Department has been informed, and a referral will be made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) to review the police response.
Anyone with information is urged to contact their local neighbourhood policing team or approach an officer directly.
