Two Shocking Robbery Attempts Rock Plashet Park in Newham
Police are on high alert after two brazen robbery attempts in Plashet Park, Newham, on Tuesday evening.
Teens Threatened with Fake Gun
Around 5.15pm, officers were called to reports of an 18-year-old man being threatened at gunpoint. Two suspects on an electric scooter demanded his phone. When he refused, one claimed to have a firearm — but no gun was ever seen. The pair fled towards Katherine Road empty-handed.
Corrosive Attack Minutes Later
Just five minutes later, a 17-year-old male became the next victim. The same suspects struck again, demanding his phone. When he refused, one threw a corrosive substance in his face. The attackers sped off in an unknown direction.
The victim was rushed to hospital. Thankfully, his injuries are not life-threatening.
Suspect Descriptions and Police Appeal
- Both suspects described as Black males, around 17 years old
- One wore a white hoodie and blue jacket
- The other dressed in a black jacket and hat
