A man from Portsmouth has died following a serious single-vehicle crash in Rowlands Castle, police have confirmed.
The crash occurred just before 6pm on Thursday on Manor Lodge Road, near Rowlands Castle Golf Course.
The black Nissan Qashqai veered off the road and flipped several times into a nearby field in a shocking accident.
Emergency crews from Hampshire Fire Stations in Havant and Horndean, paramedics from South Central Ambulance Service, and police rushed to the scene.
Collision investigators spent hours piecing together what happened as the road remained closed both ways until after 1am on Friday morning.
Witnesses believe the driver may have suffered a medical episode before losing control of the vehicle.
Recovery teams faced a challenging task, using specialist equipment to remove the wrecked vehicle over nearly three hours.
A South Central Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “The collision was reported at 5.52pm. Two ambulances, the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance, an ambulance doctor, and a critical care car were dispatched.”
Police have appealed for witnesses and anyone with information is urged to contact police on 101, quoting crime reference number 44170318767.
