Pregnant Victim Hurt in Late-Night Collision

A pregnant woman was hospitalised after a hit-and-run crash on Wood Lane, Dagenham, late Friday night (February 21).

Emergency crews raced to the scene at around 9:56 PM after reports of a two-car collision. The Metropolitan Police, London Fire Brigade, and London Ambulance Service all responded quickly.

One vehicle fled the scene, leaving behind a trail of wreckage and the injured woman in urgent need of care.

Road Shutdown and Ongoing Investigation

The woman was taken to hospital, with police confirming her injuries are “not believed to be life-threatening”. Medics are monitoring her closely due to her pregnancy.

Wood Lane was closed both ways while emergency teams cleared the debris and investigated the crash. The road has now reopened.

Detective Inspector Sarah Keaton, leading the probe, said:

“Leaving the scene of an accident, particularly one resulting in injury, is a serious offence. We are urging anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have dashcam footage, to come forward and help us find the driver responsible.”
