Police were called to Hicken Road, SW2, at 7.38pm on Monday 4 April 2022 following reports of a stabbing. Officers and the London Ambulance Service found 16-year-old Rommel McKoy with serious stab wounds. He was rushed to hospital but sadly died on 20 April 2022.

The Metropolitan Police have launched a full murder investigation into Rommel’s death. Detectives are working diligently to identify those responsible.

Detective Chief Inspector Sal Minhas said: “A 16-year-old boy has lost his life and his family deserve answers. We’re committed to bringing the person or people responsible to justice. If you have any information, please come forward – your tip could be crucial.”

Two teenagers were arrested in connection with the case. A 16-year-old boy was arrested on Friday 15 April, and a 17-year-old boy was arrested on Wednesday 20 April. Both have since been released on bail until mid-May as the investigation continues.

Detective Superintendent Neerav Patel commented on the ongoing efforts to reduce violence across London, while acknowledging the tragic and senseless nature of Rommel’s murder. Police have increased patrols in the area and continue to support Rommel’s grieving family, particularly his mother.
