Tragedy struck Railton Road, SE24, in Lambeth on Sunday, 30 October, when 23-year-old Guilherme Messias Da Silva and 27-year-old Lemar Rashawan Urqhart were fatally shot in a shocking late-evening attack.

Detective Chief Inspector Sal Minhas, from Specialist Crime, said: “Our thoughts remain with the families of Guilherme and Lemar. We’re working round the clock to track down those responsible for this brutal attack. Their deaths highlight the urgent need to tackle violent crime in our communities.”

He added, “Several people have already come forward, but anyone with further information should contact us on 0208 721 4961 or reach out anonymously via Crimestoppers.”

Police were called at around 7.50pm following reports of gunshots on Railton Road. Emergency crews, including firearms officers and London’s Air Ambulance, rushed to the scene but both men were pronounced dead at the location.

Investigators believe two cars were driving through the area when one collided with Guilherme’s moped before smashing into parked vehicles. Lemar exited one of the vehicles but was chased by a man armed with a firearm from the second car. The shooter fired at Lemar before fleeing the scene.

Chief Superintendent Colin Wingrove, overseeing Lambeth and Southwark policing, said: “More than a week on, our hearts remain with the loved ones of Guilherme and Lemar. We understand the impact on the community and have officers present locally to offer reassurance and respond to concerns.”

He continued, “Specialist Crime detectives are working tirelessly to piece together exactly what happened and urge anyone with information to come forward.”
