Police are investigating a serious collision on the A50 eastbound in Uttoxeter that left a woman in her 30s with severe injuries. The incident occurred around 7:30am on Monday, March 3, near the McDonald’s restaurant.
The crash involved a lorry and a pedestrian. Emergency services, including the Midlands Air Ambulance, responded promptly to the scene. The eastbound carriageway was closed for several hours, causing significant traffic delays until just after midday.
The woman sustained serious injuries to her legs, head, and shoulder. She was immediately transported to Royal Stoke University Hospital for urgent medical treatment. Police have confirmed that while her injuries are severe, they are not believed to be life-threatening.
Staffordshire Police stated that the lorry driver remained at the scene and is cooperating fully with the investigation. No arrests have been made at this time.
A police spokesperson said, “We are appealing for information following a collision involving a pedestrian and a lorry in Uttoxeter. Anyone with CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell footage around that time is urged to get in touch.”
The closure of the A50 eastbound caused major delays as investigators examined the scene. West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed that the patient received emergency care on site before being taken to hospital.
They added, “We attended the collision involving an HGV and a pedestrian with ambulance, paramedic officer, and air ambulance. The patient was treated at the scene and taken to hospital.”
