Callum Kerr, aged 35, died after being restrained onboard a Jet2 flight traveling from Larnaca, Cyprus, to Manchester Airport on June 21.
Reports indicated that Kerr exhibited aggressive behaviour during the flight, which was linked to heavy alcohol consumption. Passengers and crew members intervened to manage the situation.
Greater Manchester Police arrived when the plane landed and found Kerr unresponsive. Officers attempted CPR before he was taken to hospital, where he died the following day.
Police were called at approximately 2:25am on June 22 after Kerr reportedly assaulted another passenger and a crew member, causing disruption onboard the flight.
Other passengers and aircrew restrained Kerr at the rear of the aircraft before police officers boarded and handcuffed him upon arrival at Manchester Airport.
Emergency services provided first aid and CPR to Kerr, who remained unresponsive. Paramedics quickly transferred him to hospital, but he passed away on June 23.
Greater Manchester Police confirmed they are supporting an independent inquiry into Kerr’s death following the incident onboard the flight.
