12-Year-Old Suffers Serious Leg Injury
Paramedics treated the injured at the scene, with one child believed to have a serious leg injury. The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance then airlifted the youngster to Southampton General Hospital for urgent care.
Two other people received treatment on site for less severe injuries.
Coastguard and Lifeboat Speak on Incident
“The UK Coastguard is overseeing an incident involving two jet skis this afternoon at Calshot,” a Coastguard spokesman said. “The call came into our operations centre at 2.15pm.”
RNLI Calshot added: “Our D Class Lifeboat was launched following reports of the collision. All persons were recovered safely to shore, but a 12-year-old child had sustained injuries from the impact.”
Casualty Care-qualified crew along with NHS paramedics and hazard area response teams assisted the injured child before the helicopter transfer.
Emergency Teams Praise Quick Response
This coordinated multi-agency effort highlights the importance of rapid response in water-based accidents. Witnesses initially thought the chaotic rescue was a training drill due to the fast arrival of helicopters and lifeboats.
The incident serves as a grim reminder of the risks involved in high-speed water sports, especially when young children are on board.
