Car Flips onto Side After Crashing into Bus Shelter in South Reading

A dramatic car crash has shredded South Reading’s Friday afternoon rush hour. A vehicle smashed straight into a bus shelter on Northumberland Avenue, Whitley, before flipping onto its side.

Thankfully, no injuries have been reported so far. Firefighters from Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue raced to the scene to secure the flipped car and prevent further chaos.

Reading Buses quickly swung into action, diverting Route 5 away from the crash hotspot. Buses now detour via Newcastle Road, Canterbury Road, and Buckland Road before rejoining Northumberland Avenue.

Thames Valley Police have warned drivers to brace for serious delays. The car remains on its side, and clearing the wreck is expected to take some time. Motorists are urged to avoid Northumberland Avenue unless absolutely necessary.
