It has been five years since Georgina Gharsallah vanished without a trace in Worthing, West Sussex. On March 7, 2018, the young mother disappeared, leaving her family and the local community desperate for answers. Despite extensive police investigations and searches, Georgina’s whereabouts remain unknown.

The disappearance has united the community in ongoing search efforts. Sussex Police have conducted thorough inquiries but have yet to find any solid leads. The last confirmed sighting of Georgina was that morning at Clifton Food and Wine on Clifton Road, Worthing. There was also a possible sighting later that day of Georgina crossing Chapel Road accompanied by another woman. However, police have been unable to confirm the identities of either woman in the footage, and appeals for information continue.

Detective Superintendent Andy Wolstenholme, who is leading the investigation, said, “We are as committed today as we were on day one to finding out what happened to Georgina. We urge anyone with any information to come forward, no matter how small it seems.” He added, “Five years is a long time. Some people may have moved away and returned or might now feel ready to speak after all this time. We want to hear from you. We will listen, and every tip will be pursued thoroughly.”

In August 2019, the case was officially upgraded to a homicide investigation. Crimestoppers is offering a £20,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible. Det. Supt Wolstenholme stated, “Georgina is a much-loved mother, sister, and daughter. It’s completely out of character for her to disappear like this without contact. No activity on her phone or bank accounts points to a worrying possibility that she has come to harm.” He continued, “Although we’ve classified the case as a homicide, we remain open to all possibilities and are dedicated to uncovering the truth.”

Members of the public are encouraged to report any information online or by calling 101, quoting Operation Pavo. Tips can also be passed anonymously via Crimestoppers at crimestoppers-uk.org or by phone on 0800 555 111, available 24/7.

“Every missing person deserves to be found,” said Wolstenholme. “Georgina’s family, especially her mother Andrea, deserve closure after five long years. We won’t stop until we bring Georgina home and give her loved ones the peace they desperately need.”
