East Hants Rally Against Climate Change in Bold Green Push
Last Wednesday (15 March), East Hants took a big step in the fight against climate change with a buzzing ‘Get East Hants Green’ event at Liss Pavilion. The gathering was a hotspot for local leaders and eco-warriors to swap ideas, share successes, and map out a greener future.
Local Heroes Join Forces
Big names like Hampshire County Council (HCC), East Hampshire District Council (EHDC), Petersfield Town Council (PTC), and Alton Climate Action Network (ACAN) all pitched in. Their talks zeroed in on key issues: home and business energy, nature conservation, transport, community energy, recycling, and building stronger partnerships.
Strong Words From The Top
Rob Mocatta, EHDC’s portfolio holder for Regeneration and Prosperity, nailed it:
“To tackle climate change, we need to work collaboratively across all levels of the community from the county council to the district council and community groups.”
Meanwhile, Councillor Ken Moon, EHDC’s portfolio holder for Economic Prosperity, praised the packed room:
“It was great to harness all of the energy in the room. The community groups all speak passionately about the work they are undertaking and councils at every level are playing an active role in supporting them. I am grateful to everyone who attended for their time and knowledge in helping bring this agenda to the forefront of everyone’s minds.”
The Green Battle Continues
The conversation on fighting climate change is far from over. These local leaders and community champions vow to keep working hand-in-hand, boosting support and action across East Hants to build a sustainable tomorrow.
