Blaze Breaks Out at Highgate Railway Yard
Firefighters raced to a blaze at a derelict building on Archway Road, Highgate, this Tuesday afternoon. Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters tackled the flames after the fire broke out just after 3pm.
Highgate Station and Road Shut Amid Fire
Highgate Underground Station has been temporarily closed. Authorities urge the public to avoid the area while emergency crews work. Archway Road is also closed, with drivers advised to find alternative routes.
Firefighters Bring Blaze Under Control
A London Fire Brigade spokesman revealed that half of the first floor in the building was damaged. Crews wearing breathing apparatus got the fire under control by 4.13pm after receiving 25 emergency calls.
“Six fire engines and about 40 firefighters tackled a fire at a building on Archway Road in Highgate today (05 May). There were no reports of any injuries,” said the London Fire Brigade.
Investigation Underway
Fire units from Hornsey, Kentish Town, Holloway, West Hampstead, and Finchley attended the scene. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
