Drivers are experiencing significant delays of up to 90 minutes following a crash that shut down the M25 anti-clockwise near Junction 17 (Maple Cross) earlier today.
The collision has brought traffic to a standstill, with motorists stuck in tailbacks extending 6.5 miles on the approach to the junction.
Emergency services including police, paramedics, and National Highways Traffic Officers are currently working at the scene. Due to the blockage, all anti-clockwise traffic is being directed off and back on the motorway via the exit and entry slip roads at Junction 17.
National Highways has issued a travel alert advising drivers to plan ahead and seek alternative routes where possible. They recommend allowing extra time for journeys or delaying travel until the road reopens.
A spokesperson said, “If this closure impacts your planned route, please allow extra journey time. There is an hour and a half delay on approach with 6.5 miles of congestion.”
