Motorists are facing significant disruption this morning on the M25 anticlockwise after a serious crash closed all lanes between Cobham Services and Junction 9 (A243 Leatherhead). The incident occurred just after 6am, resulting in a full closure for around 40 minutes. Despite partial reopening, lanes one and two remain closed, causing extensive traffic delays.
Traffic is currently backed up for miles, with tailbacks extending all the way to Junction 12 (M3 Interchange). On the A3, a three-mile queue has formed southbound from Ripley towards Cobham. Local roads in Byfleet and New Haw are also experiencing congestion due to the disruption.
In addition, rubbernecking near Junction 8 (Reigate) is causing slow traffic on the clockwise carriageway. The road was fully blocked until 7:15am, and recovery efforts are still ongoing. Emergency crews continue to work at the scene, managing traffic and investigating the crash.
Drivers are advised to avoid the affected stretch of the M25 near Cobham and Leatherhead. Alternative routes include the A3, A24, and various local roads to bypass the congestion. Motorists should allow extra travel time if passing through the area this morning.
Emergency services and National Highways traffic officers remain on site. At this time, there are no updates regarding injuries or the exact cause of the crash.
