Emergency crews are responding to a serious collision on the M3 motorway in Surrey, which has resulted in the closure of the eastbound carriageway between Junctions 3 and 2. The crash involved a car and a heavy goods vehicle (HGV), leading to significant traffic disruption.
Surrey Police and emergency services remain at the scene, managing the incident and directing traffic. The closure has caused severe delays, particularly impacting the busy M25 interchange nearby.
Motorists are advised to follow the official ‘Solid Diamond’ diversion route to avoid congestion. The diversion instructions are as follows:
Exit the M3 eastbound at Junction 3. At the roundabout, take the first exit onto the A322 Bracknell Road. Continue for 0.5 miles, pass under the A30, then join the slip road to the A30 London Road. Turn left onto the A30 and travel approximately 8 miles through Sunningdale to Egham. At the Egham Bypass roundabout, take the second exit onto the A30. At the next roundabout with the A308, take the second exit. Follow signs to the M25 Junction 13 interchange and circumnavigate the roundabout. Take the fourth exit to join the A30, which merges with the M25 anti-clockwise carriageway. Continue on the M25 to Junction 12, then use the nearside lanes to rejoin the M3 eastbound link road.
Delays are expected to continue for several hours as emergency services work to clear the scene. Drivers are encouraged to seek alternative routes and prepare for heavy congestion around the M25 interchange.
Authorities will provide updates as the situation develops.
