The M3 motorway in Surrey is completely closed in both directions between Junction 2 (M25) and Junction 3 (Lightwater) after a serious single-vehicle collision.

All emergency services, including an Air Ambulance, responded swiftly to the incident to provide assistance. Surrey Police are leading the investigation and remain on site as they carry out a full examination of the crash.

The motorway closure is expected to last for a considerable time, causing significant delays for motorists. National Highways Traffic Officers and service teams are managing traffic to help control the situation.

Drivers travelling westbound are advised to follow the solid triangle diversion signs: exit the M3 at Junction 2, take the M25 clockwise, leave at Junction 13, then take the A30 exit towards the A308 and the Egham By-Pass. Continue through Sunningdale to Bagshot, then at Grove End roundabout take the first exit. Follow signs to the A322 and turn left. At the roundabout, take the third exit back onto the M3 westbound.

Eastbound drivers should follow the solid diamond diversion signs: exit the M3 at Junction 3, take the first exit onto the A322, then exit onto the A30 London Road at Sunningdale. Continue through Sunningdale to Egham, join the M25 at Junction 13, head anticlockwise to Junction 12, then rejoin the M3 eastbound.

Motorists are urged to stay alert, plan alternate routes if possible, and follow updates for further news on the situation.
