The M4 motorway is completely closed in both directions between junction 13 (Newbury/Chieveley) and junction 14 (Hungerford) following a serious collision. Emergency services, including the Air Ambulance, rushed to the scene after the crash was reported just before 1pm on 12 August.
Westbound traffic is at a standstill, with queues quickly building up. Drivers are urged to expect significant delays and follow official diversion routes. National Highways Traffic Officers are on site managing the incident. Diversion details are available on National Highways travel alerts.
Meanwhile, the M25 clockwise is also experiencing disruption. Three lanes remain closed between junction 16 (M40) and junction 17 (Rickmansworth) after a separate crash. This has caused around six miles of congestion, adding at least 30 minutes to journey times.
Motorists are advised to plan ahead and stay updated on traffic conditions to avoid getting caught in the gridlock.
