Chaos erupted on the M6 northbound near Stafford as a suspected drink driver ploughed into multiple lorries, causing havoc before finally being stopped and arrested.

Staffordshire’s Road Crime Team sprang into action early this morning after receiving several reports of a vehicle swerving dangerously along the M6. The driver didn’t just swerve — the car collided with several heavy goods vehicles, yet continued driving erratically despite the serious damage caused.

When police finally stopped the vehicle, the driver refused a roadside breath test. Arrested on the spot, they later blew a staggering 56 micrograms of alcohol in custody — well over the legal limit of 35 micrograms.

Arrested and facing serious charges, this dangerous drink driver caused a major motorway nightmare this morning on the M6 near Stafford.
