A massive fire erupted at Eat More Plaza on High Street North, East Ham (E6) on the evening of Thursday, 29 May 2025. The London Fire Brigade (LFB) launched a significant response, sending 10 fire engines to tackle the blaze.

Emergency services were alerted just before 8pm as the fire rapidly spread across multiple commercial units within the plaza. This led to a swift evacuation of local residents and businesses to ensure safety.

The London Fire Brigade declared the situation a Major Incident, bringing in specialist crews from surrounding boroughs to assist with the firefighting efforts. Station Commander Darren McTernan, who was present at the scene, stated: “Crews are working hard to bring this fire under control. High Street North will remain closed while the incident is ongoing. Please avoid the area and keep windows and doors closed due to large amounts of smoke.”

Firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus have been on the frontline, using thermal imaging cameras and high-pressure hoses to combat the fire. Traffic has been diverted around Ron Leighton Way to facilitate emergency vehicle access. The London Ambulance Service remains on standby, and no injuries have been reported so far.

Authorities have urged the public to stay clear of the area due to heavy smoke and congestion from emergency vehicles. Residents are advised to keep windows and doors shut to reduce smoke exposure.

Key details of the incident include:

  • Time of fire: 7.55pm, Thursday 29 May 2025
  • Location: Eat More Plaza, High Street North, East Ham
  • Response: Ten fire engines plus specialist units deployed
