Police have sealed off the entrance to the Billy Trail on Hayling Island this morning following an undisclosed incident.

Just after 11am, emergency services arrived at the remote location in force. A Specialist Hazardous Area Response Team was dispatched from Otterbourne, near Winchester, approximately 30 miles away.

Paramedic officers arrived in rugged Land Rover Discoveries, and a South Central Ambulance Incident Response Unit also attended the scene.

At around 1pm, an ambulance left the area under police escort. The vehicle reversed down the seven-mile off-road track, a challenging manoeuvre given the confined space. It is not clear if there was a casualty inside, but footage shows a police officer entering the ambulance before it departed.

Throughout the morning, police maintained a tight cordon at the trail entrance, preventing public access. The atmosphere around Billy Trail remains tense as authorities have not released further details.

Michelle Archer, Communications Manager for South Central Ambulance Service, declined to comment on the ongoing situation.

The incident at Billy Trail continues to raise questions among locals and visitors awaiting more information.
