A 68-year-old man was rushed to hospital after a collision between his motorbike and a car on Upminster Road at around 9.20am on September 20. Police describe his injuries as “life-changing, but not life-threatening.” The car driver stayed at the scene as emergency services responded swiftly.
Road Closure Sparks Bus Chaos
Upminster Road remains closed, causing major disruption to local travel. Bus routes 248 and 370 are on diversion duty, skipping stops between Upminster Station, St Lawrence Road, St Andrew’s Church, and Romford. Travel giant Transport for London (TfL) has confirmed delays continue as emergency crews work at the scene.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
“Around 9.23am on Saturday, September 20, police were called to a collision between a car and motorbike in Upminster Road, Hornchurch,” a Met Police spokesperson said. “The 68-year-old motorcyclist was treated on scene before being taken to hospital. The car driver remained at the scene. The road closure and bus diversions are ongoing.”
