Police are urgently seeking witnesses following a serious collision involving a cyclist in Chippenham on May 8. A man in his 30s sustained grievous bodily harm (GBH) injuries after the incident, which took place at around 3:30pm on Hungerdown Lane near the Lidl store.

The collision involved a small grey hatchback and a white van. Police report that the driver of the grey car failed to stop or provide any details after the accident.

Authorities believe the driver of the grey hatchback, thought to be a young woman, turned right into Allington Way and struck the cyclist. She did not stop to report the incident or exchange details, prompting police to rely on witness accounts to progress their investigation.

Emergency services attended the scene promptly following the collision. The incident has raised safety concerns within the local community, especially given the serious injuries sustained by the cyclist.

At the time of the collision, there was reportedly heavy traffic in the area. Police are appealing to anyone who saw the collision or the grey vehicle involved to come forward and assist with their inquiries.

Members of the public who can provide information are urged to call 101 quoting the reference number 54260056470. Alternatively, information can be given anonymously through CrimeStoppers on 0800 555 111.
