Two pedestrians were seriously injured in a collision on Dorcan Way in Swindon on the evening of 22 May. At around 6:10pm, a four-year-old boy and a 19-year-old woman got off a bus and crossed the road behind it when they were struck by a van driving in the opposite direction.

Both victims were taken to hospital. The 19-year-old woman sustained serious injuries that are potentially life-changing, while the boy’s injuries are also considered potentially serious. Both remain under medical care following the incident.

The van driver, a man in his twenties, stopped at the scene and is cooperating with police inquiries.

Police closed Dorcan Way in both directions to allow the Serious Collision Investigation Team to carry out their enquiries. The road has since been reopened to traffic.

Wiltshire Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage to come forward. Witnesses are asked to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Team on 01225 694597, quoting log number 275 of 22 May 2026, or email SCIT@wiltshire.police.uk.
