UK Faces More Stormy Weather After Saturday’s Calm
The UK’s brief sunny spell is over. After a chilly but dry Saturday with some sunshine, wet and windy weather is set to slam Britain once again. Flood-prone areas are bracing for fresh downpours that could push water levels higher.
Severe Weather Warnings Issued
The Met Office has slapped Yellow National Severe Weather Warnings across southern and southwestern England and Wales. A low-pressure system is driving heavy rain and strong gusts. Rainfall could reach 20-30mm, with hills getting soaked by up to 80mm.
Met Office Chief Meteorologist Jason Kelly warned: “Sunday will bring a return to wet and windy weather across the southern half of the UK.”
The wind warning kicks in at 9am on Sunday and lasts until midnight. Expect gusts of 50-55mph, with exposed coasts and elevated areas possibly hitting 60mph.
Flood Risk Heightened in Vulnerable Areas
Officials are especially worried about flood-hit zones. Heavy rain is expected to batter Midlands regions already battling floodwaters from earlier storms. Residents are urged to stay alert and monitor flood warnings via the Environment Agency website.
Weather Warning: Stay Safe and Be Prepared
- Expect strong winds Sunday from morning till midnight
- Heavy rainfall likely in southern, southwestern England and Wales
- Flood-prone Midlands face more rain early next week
- Travel disruptions and flooding risks remain high
With southern and central England already soaked—some places saw 250% above average rain for September—locals are warned to stay vigilant. Full Met Office stats for the month drop on October 1.
Take care out there and keep an eye on weather updates!
