Woman Dies in Devastating Bromley Flat Fire

A woman has died after a fierce fire tore through a retirement flat in Bromley during the early hours of Friday morning.

Blaze Engulfs First-Floor Flat on Reigate Road

Firefighters were called to a three-storey block on Reigate Road at 4.22am following reports of a serious blaze. The fire swiftly consumed a first-floor flat, leaving it completely destroyed.

40 Firefighters Battle Huge Flames

The 1 scrambled six fire engines and around 40 firefighters from stations in Lee Green, Bromley, Lewisham, and Forest Hill. Crews brought the fire under control by 5.54am, but sadly the woman inside could not be saved.

“Despite the best efforts of emergency services, a woman was pronounced dead at the scene,” confirmed an LFB spokesperson.

Cause of Fire Under Investigation

Fire investigators are now probing the cause of the devastating blaze. No other injuries have been reported. The retirement complex has since been evacuated and secured for safety.
