A pedestrian tragically died after being hit by a Ford Fiesta at a busy Hertfordshire junction last Thursday night.
The incident occurred at around 9.20pm on 14 April at the junction of Eleanor Cross Road and Eleanor Way. A white Ford Fiesta collided with a female pedestrian, later identified as 49-year-old Vipuli Palihakkarra from Waltham Cross.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene, and Vipuli was taken to hospital in a serious condition. Sadly, she died later that evening. Her grieving family is now receiving specialist support.
The driver of the Ford Fiesta remained at the scene and is fully cooperating with the police investigation.
Sergeant David Burstow, who is leading the inquiry for the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, expressed his condolences: “Our thoughts are with the family of the woman who sadly died following this incident.” He added, “We are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or has dash cam footage.”
Police are urging witnesses to come forward. If you saw the crash or have any relevant information, please contact Sergeant Burstow at [email protected]. Always quote Operation Sundew when providing details.
