Grandfather Stabbed to Death in Shocking Ealing Attack
At 4.06pm on Tuesday, August 16, tragedy struck Greenford when Thomas O’Halloran, a local grandfather, was stabbed and left to die. Police rushed to Runnymede Gardens, near Cayton Road, after reports of a man with stab wounds.
Despite emergency first aid and the arrival of London Ambulance and Air Ambulance services, Mr O’Halloran was pronounced dead at the scene. His family has been informed and is receiving specialist support.
Man Fled Scene Armed with Knife
Detectives reveal Mr O’Halloran was stabbed on Western Avenue shortly before 4.06pm. He then managed to travel around 75 yards on his mobility scooter to Runnymede Gardens, where he flagged down a passerby for help.
Officers from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command are hunting a dangerous suspect seen fleeing the scene holding a knife. CCTV images show a man in grey shorts, a dark t-shirt, white baseball cap, and distinctive white patterned builder gloves.
“We are keen to identify the man in the CCTV images as soon as possible,” said Detective Chief Inspector Jim Eastwood. “He is clearly dangerous. Do not approach him. Call 999 immediately if you see him or know where he is.”
Police Urge Public to Come Forward
Detectives have been working around the clock to find Mr O’Halloran’s killer but need the public’s help. Authorities are appealing for any information, no matter how small, including dash cam or cycle helmet footage of the incident.
“Mr O’Halloran’s life was needlessly snatched away in a shocking act of unprovoked violence,” said Chief Superintendent Sean Wilson. “The community will be shocked and appalled. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.”
More officers will patrol the area in the coming days to offer reassurance and support. Residents are urged to share any information to help catch the culprit.
