Armed Police Storm Stow Crescent After Gun Threat
An intense stand-off erupted yesterday on Stow Crescent when a man reportedly threatened to harm himself and anyone trying to enter his home, gun in hand.
Hours of Tense Negotiations End in Gunfire
The drama kicked off at 10am after worried family members called 999, fearing for the man’s safety. Police negotiators spent hours coaxing him to surrender as the area was sealed off with a tight cordon.
But at around 2pm, tension exploded. Officers heard a loud bang inside the property before shots were fired as they moved in. The exact sequence of events during the gunfire remains under investigation.
Man Survives Shooting, Now Hospitalised
Emergency teams treated the man on scene before rushing him to hospital. He is in serious but stable condition with what authorities call life-changing injuries.
Investigation Underway amid Community Reassurances
The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) has launched a probe into the incident.
