Emergency crews sprang into action after a serious two-vehicle collision on Dymchurch Road, New Romney, at around 6:33pm on Monday, 26 May 2025.
The Kent Fire and Rescue Service sent two fire engines to the scene, where firefighters battled to free a person trapped in one of the wrecked cars.
Firefighters deployed powerful hydraulic cutting tools, known as the “Jaws of Life,” along with vehicle stabilisation chocks, rams, rescue spreaders, and braces. Their swift and skilled response helped get the trapped individual out quickly and safely.
The rescue involved close coordination with Kent Police and South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb). Paramedics took over care of the freed driver right at the scene.
The crash caused some road disruption while emergency teams worked hard. The exact cause of the collision is still under investigation.
Authorities are urging drivers to stay alert and cautious along rural and coastal roads like Dymchurch Road, especially with the Bank Holiday weekend traffic ramping up. Safety remains a top priority to prevent more crashes.
