Eight-Year-Old Girl Rushed to Hospital

A young girl, believed to be around eight, has been hospitalised after a stabbing at a block of flats in Christchurch. Dorset Police were called to Glider Close at 5:45pm on Tuesday, August 20, following reports of the attack.

The girl’s injuries are not life-threatening. She is currently receiving medical treatment.

Two Arrested in Christchurch Knife Attack

A man in his 20s from Christchurch has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. A local woman in her 50s was also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. Both remain in police custody as investigations continue.

Armed Police and Forensics Swarm the Scene

Residents described a huge emergency response with armed officers, detectives, and a forensic team arriving at the scene. An air ambulance landed at the nearby Christchurch Rugby Club. Police sealed off the block of flats and carried out door-to-door inquiries while forensic teams scoured the area.

Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward

Chief Superintendent Stewart Dipple spoke to the community: “There is an increased policing presence as enquiries continue. We urge anyone who saw what happened or has any information to come forward.”

He also cautioned the public against speculation, stressing the investigation is still in its early stages.
