Maertens pleaded guilty to 34 terrifying charges including:

Jail Time Increased After Appeal
Initially jailed for life with a minimum of 16 years at Isle of Wight Crown Court in November last year, Maertens’ sentence has now been ramped up. The Court of Appeal ruled the original term was too lenient and extended his minimum term to 25 years on March 19, 2021.
Police Speak Out: Justice Served, Support Available
“We welcome the Court of Appeal decision today to extend the sentence of Jonathan Maertens,” said Detective Sergeant Damon Kennard. “I hope this provides further justice to the victims and their families, who continue to receive support as they try to rebuild their lives.”
“We take every sexual assault report seriously and will stop at nothing to bring offenders to justice. It is vital victims feel confident to come forward.”
