Halifax Man Jailed for 14 Years Over Shocking Sex and Drug Crimes
Michael Murray, 39, from Prescott Street, Halifax, has been locked up for 14 years at Bradford Crown Court for horrific child sexual exploitation and a raft of drug offences.
Gruesome Sexual Offences Against Teen
Murray was found guilty of two counts of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and one count of sexual assault. He groomed a teenage victim over a prolonged period, using prescription drugs to facilitate his crimes.
Massive Drug Operation Uncovered
Alongside the sexual offences, Murray admitted 32 drug charges. Police seized a large stash of prescription medication, cocaine, amphetamines, and cannabis from his home. He faced multiple counts of possession with intent to supply Class A, B, and C drugs, pointing to a serious supply network.
Heavy Sentence Delivered
On June 21, Murray was sentenced to 14 years — 11 years for sexual offences plus 3 years consecutive for drug crimes.
Police Praise Victim’s Bravery
Detective Constable Riah Nicholson of Calderdale District Safeguarding Team said: “We thank the victim for her courage in coming forward. Murray’s crimes are severe, and we urge all victims of sexual abuse to report it. You will be taken seriously, and we’ll do all we can to bring offenders like this to justice.”
