Deal Man Locked Up for 18 Years Over Brutal Rape of Two Teens

A 42-year-old man from Deal has been jailed for 18 years after being found guilty of raping two teenage girls. Steven Biggs, of Owen Square, was convicted at Canterbury Crown Court following a three-day trial.

Horrific Attack in Deal Shocks Community

The horrific assault took place in the early hours of August 4, 2020, on Freemans Way. Biggs approached two girls, aged 13 and 14, who asked for a cigarette outside a home. He invited them inside, then coercively led one into a bedroom and raped her. When she tried to flee with her friend, Biggs dragged them both back in and carried out further assaults.

Swift Police Action and Victims’ Bravery

The crime was reported to Kent Police on September 3, 2020, after one victim confided in a family member. Officers acted quickly, arresting Biggs on November 29, 2020. He faced 10 sexual offence charges, including three counts of rape. Biggs refused to testify, but the jury found him guilty on September 24, 2025.

He now faces 18 years behind bars, must register as a sex offender for life, and is subject to a 25-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

Detective Praises Courage of Victims

“This was a deeply disturbing crime involving the violent abuse of two young girls,” said Detective Constable Linda Gavin. “Steven Biggs showed a complete disregard for their wellbeing and inflicted life-changing trauma. I want to commend the bravery and courage that both victims have shown throughout this investigation. Their contributions played a vital part in delivering justice. Biggs is a violent criminal. I’m pleased he has received a lengthy prison sentence that will prevent him from harming any other young victims.”
